DFC Edge That Little Bit Closer As They Try To Retain Intermediate A

Windmill Star featured a lot of their reserve team who had just won the reserve league on Saturday past and they proved strong resistance to DFC who were seeking 2 more victories from there remaining 3 league fixtures.

DFC opened brightly with Andy McMath firing over from distance and Glenn Hand firing wide of the far post then a shock on 20 minutes when the Windmill full back fired in from a free kick on the edge of the area.

The home keeper then went on to both frustrate DFC with a series of breathtaking saves from Ryan Gourley and Hand before on 40 minutes he was finally beaten when Aaron Duke hammered home a penalty after a handball by the defender and the experienced Hand fired home number 2 from distance to make the half time talk a little easier.

On 55 minutes Richy Thompson scored the all important next goal when Duke played him in and he finished cooley into the bottom corner.

DFC continued to dominate the game but a series of great saves and poor finishing kept the score the same until few minutes from the end when Duke finished low into the bottom corner after good through ball from McMath.

Thompson and Gourley and McMath were then replaced in the final few minutes with Stephen Jones, Cathal DeBrun and Michael Ferguson replacing them as DFC held out for a very important win as they seek to try and retain there league title from last season.
