Dollingstown Get Back To Winning Ways In New Year Opener

After the long Christmas break it was very good to get back to playing football again as DFC welcomed Camlough Rovers to Planters Park that had withstood the heavy rain earlier in the week.

DFC started with new signing Michael Ferguson from Moneyslane on the wing and after the match also welcomed another new winger from Banbridge Town namely Ryan Gourley to the club.
On 12 minutes Aaron Duke cut in from the left and his effort was cleared off the line and a few minutes later a header from a corner kick rebounded off the post as DFC searched for the opening goal.
Then on 20 minutes the lively Richy Thompson cut the ball back for Andy McMath who fired wide and that man Thompson earned a penalty few minutes later which was duly converted by Duke and following a good run down the left by Duke he cut the ball back for Thompson whose shot was well saved at the near post by the Camlough keeper who then excelled again from a Marc Davidson header from a corner.
Thompson finally got the goal he deserved when he headed home a cross cone shot from Glenn Hand and right on half time Duke tapped home his second of the game after good work down the right by Marty Hughes.
Right at the start of the second half it was 4-0 when McMath headed home from a Hand corner and indeed he should have doubled this himself on at least two other occasions in the second half.
Hand and Hughes were then replaced by Stephen Jones and Scott Adams as Thompson gave way to Cathel DeBrun as the game petered out for a comfortable 4-0 welcomed victory for DFC.
Next Saturday DFC have another home fixture against Banbridge Rangers who are also fighting for the title.
