Dollingstown Win Local Derby To Make The Semi Finals Of The Marshall Cup

Local neighbours who rarely have a competitive game between the sides faced up to each other in the quarter-final of the Marshall Cup and it was the intermediate league side who ran out comfortable winners by 3 goals to nil.

DFC have much bigger fixtures ahead of them in terms of final run in to league campaign with a very tough away fixture on Tuesday evening against AFC Silverwood but still started this game on the front foot and went in front very early on when a short corner by Glenn Hand found his partner Andy McMath in plenty of space and he calmly stuck the ball low into the bottom corner.

Richy Thompson then scored the second goal shortly afterwards when he calmly tucked the ball under the on rushing keeper after being set up by Josh Norton.

Aaron Duke then wrapped up the game on the half hour mark when he finished superbly after a fantastic cross field pass from McMath.

Credit to Hill street in the second half they came more into the game but really it should have been 4-0 at the start of the second half when the extremely hard-working Hand fired wide from inside the area.

Both teams travel together next Saturday to Navan to represent the MUFL against Leinster FA teams.
