Dollybirds Come Away From Brownstown With 3 Points

DFC returned to league action tonight at near neighbours Hanover and on a very wet and stormy night a special mention should go to both teams who competed for every ball and despite not being a dirty game numerous bookings were made against each team.

Hanover went in front on 20 minutes when from a deep cross on the right to the back post the centre forward caught the ball beautifully to give Stephen Croft no chance.

On the half hour mark it was all square when a cross from Nathan McConnell was hammered into the bottom corner by Scott McCordick who then had to depart once again with a recurrence of his hamstring injury and he was replaced by Davy Gray but not before Scott Adams had a fine effort rebound off the post.

On 55 minutes a DFC lost Jake Redpath after a challenge to yet another dreaded ham string that will keep him out for some weeks and he was replaced by Glenn Hand who himself was only returning from injury.

He made an immediate impact on the hour mark when he himself was brought down in the area and he stepped up to calmly hit the back of the net.

With 15 minutes left Stephen Jones who battled hard all night was replaced by young striker Nathan Lavery. Josh Norton who worked his socks off all night was then taken out by the home keeper after a long chase down the right-wing but nothing came from the resulting free kick.

With 5 minutes of normal time remaining young Gray sprinkled some magic on the pitch by leaving two defenders standing before setting up young Lavery for his first goal for DFC.
