Crewe United vs Dollingstown
Match Report
Both teams were back in action after their Irish cup exploits on Saturday and it was DFC who came away with a fairly comfortable 3-0 away victory as they enter the second half of their league campaign.
They went in front on 5 minutes when a fine move down the right resulted in Harrison pulling the ball back for Clarke to sublimely lob the keeper but Crewe almost equalised a minute later when DFC were caught out down the left but Redpath made a superb challenge to deflect the ball for a corner.
Clarke then chipped another effort onto the bar and this was then followed by two more clear chances for Harrison and Keegan but both fired wayward when they really should have scored.
Then on 50 minutes Doc played a good ball out to Keegan on the left who cut inside the fullback and curled his effort low into bottom corner and same player had another chance few minutes later when he found himself free at the back post but fired over the bar when more composure was needed.
Thompson then played in Clarke but again another wide and Harrison rounded keeper but his shot was cleared off the line as DFC fought to close the game out.
Then finally on 75 minutes Thompson scored at the back post from a great cross by Redpath to wrap up the game before Keegan made way for Gray and Rodgers for Luke Adams.
This was a solid team performance but too many chances were missed when in done other game this could prove more crucial.
This weekend we are back to cup action with a Marshall Cup game at Planters Park against MUFL Division 1 team Coalisland Athletic which has a 2pm KO.
