DFC made the journey to Moneyslane on Saturday for the first ever time and we would like to commend Moneyslane on a superb set up on and off the field.
Moneyslane played with a strong wind advantage in the first half but the game never got flowing due to an enormous amount of stoppages by a very fussy referee who didn’t real let the game flow for either team.
Indeed the first serious effort on target wasn’t until the 37 minute but Croft got down well to turn the header away and both teams went into the break scoreless.
Moneyslane were handed a great opportunity on 52 minutes when the referee who was on the wrong side of the penalty area to see properly awarded the home team a penalty for supposed hand ball from a corner on the opposite flank.
Justice was done when Croft got down low to his right and turned it away for a corner.
Andy Hamilton who was making his first start in nearly three years was then replaced on 67 minutes by Scott McCordick and on 80 minutes a long ball from Scott Adams found Thompson down the left channel and his first time effort went wide of the far post.
Keegan and Thompson were then replaced by Gray and Harrison as DFC went in search of the winner which duly came right on 90 minutes when another long ball from Adams found McCordick in the left channel and he kept his composure to slip the ball into the far bottom corner.
This wasn’t a pretty game by any chance but a great overall team performance that ground out the win to put some more clear daylight between them and the chasing pack.
The next two weeks will define the title as DFC have a run of 4 home games over the two weeks all against top opposition starting with Tandragee on Saturday at 2.15 pm.
