The Dollybirds Need Extra Time To Get Past Ballymacash Rangers in Marshall Cup Tie

A much changed DFC team from that of recent weeks made very hard work of overcoming a spirited Ballymacash team that had to go to extra time in the end.

DFC opened brightly enough with David Gray prominent down the left side and he created two very good chances for Thompson who failed to convert either but overall a very poor first half with neither keeper having any thing of note to deal with.

On 50 minutes McFall had a good chance when the visiting keeper made a hash of a clearance but he shot over the bar and on the hour mark last weeks goal hero Doc missed from 6 yards after the keeper dropped the ball under pressure and a few minutes later Ballymacash opened the scoring when a great cross or shot from the right-wing rebounded off the bar and was touched in at the back post.

Manager Uprichard responded by withdrawing Harrison and Rodgers and replacing with Scott Adams and Luke Adams and on 75 minutes it didn’t look if DFC would ever score when once again toast weeks hero Doc headed over from a Thomson cross from the right.

Final change for DFC seen Coleman replaced by Keegan as Uprichard went 3 at the back in search of the equalizer and this had immediate result with Thompson tapping in from a Keegan cross as the game then went into extra time.

DFC scored in the very first minute although much debate whether the whole ball had actually crossed the line from Keegan but after discussion the goal stood and 5 minutes later it really was all over when Keegan cut inside past 2-3 defenders to bury the ball in bottom corner.

Credit Ballymacash however as they rattled the bar at the start of second period of overtime and indeed should have scored a minute later from another wonderful fight wing cross but DFC wrapped cup win up in final minutes when a Scott Adams drilled low into the bottom corner.

DFC would like to thank Match  sponsor Salon Purple, William Street, Lurgan for their kind sponsorship.
