DFC Go Into The Hat For The Next Round Of The Bob Radcliffe Cup

In the first of back to back matches the home side came out on top in this Bob Radcliffe Cup encounter by 5 -1 score line.

Johnson made good run down the right in opening minutes setting up Jones who fired wide but it was Annagh who scored the opening goal on 20 minutes after good move down there right but the referee disallowed the goal for offside in the move itself.

Then a great move involving McConnell, Johnson and Redpath ended with McConnell firing wide at the back post.

Eventually the pressure told and on 25 minutes it was Liggett who tapped in after the keeper saved well from Johnson and then the keeper saved well from a Hand after free flowing move down the right wing.

Henderson then threw the ball from an Annagh throw in to Johnson who switched play to Mooney who rifled the ball into the top corner from fully 25 yards out and Johnson has another great chance few minutes later but again the keeper saved well.

Right on half time from a quick break away Liggett showed great composure to keep calm and put the home side 3-0 up at the break.

Then after some confusion with an Annagh player down injured the home team stopped play allowing Annagh to pull one back.

Almost immediately though it was 4-1 when Liggett worked hard down the right to set up Johnson for his goal and not long afterwards it was game over when Liggett calming collected his hat trick after another long ball.

Jones, king and Hand then made way for Rea, Thompson and Patterson to gain some valuable game time in the final 15 minutes.

Next Saturday will be a much tougher encounter as Annagh sit proudly at the top of the table with maximum points with 3 pm kick off again at Planters Park.
