DFC Head For Round 4 Of The Tennent’s Irish Cup After Comfortable Display

Dollingstown welcomed Lisburn Distillery to Planters Park in the 3rd round of the Tennents Irish Cup and put themselves in the next round with a comfortable display.

Manager Stephen Uprichard made  changes to the team and started with King, Patterson and Thompson this week and it near paid of within 5 minutes when Patterson put in Thompson in for the first shot on goal but it was easily saved by the visiting keeper. Dollingstown were on top with McCullough, Mooney and Patterson running the midfield, and Thompson’s pace causing problem in Distillery defence.

A head on from Thompson set up Johnston to cross which just eluded McCullough. Patterson had a shot well saved and McCullough was through one on one but Distillery keeper made a good save. On 42 minutes Johnston got the just rewards with the first goal after a good move from Rogers to Mooney who set up Johnston.

Distillery had their first shot on Dollingstown goal on 43rd minute but was well saved by Robinson in the DFC goal.

Distillery started the second half on top for about 20 minutes but Dollingstown’s defence of King, Acheson and Moffett stood firm.

Dollingstown worked their way back into the game and McCullough had a good header well saved.  Another good move saw Redpath taken out off the ball but the referee did not see it.

Distillery brought Braniff on to change things , he had a shot from a early touch that just went pass the post.

A great through ball from Johnston put Thompson in on goal for Dollingstown’s second on 80 minutes.

Distillery’s effort was rewarded when their number 8 had a cross come shot that creeped in off the far post to pull a goal back but it was too late and Dollingstown are in the hat for next round.

t was a good performance from Dollingstown showing good strength and depth in the squad.
