We would like to Welcome Alan Murdough to Planters Park as the NEW Reserve Team Manager. Alan will be assisted by Ben Mehaffy as the driving forces behind the Reserves.
Alan has coached at Sporting Lisburn over the years before getting involved in the youth side of Lisburn Ladies then he stepped up to the senior team as Assistant Manager which play in the NIWFA Championship.
ALAN – “When the chance came up to apply for the job at Dollingstown Reserves it was an opportunity myself and Ben wanted to take as the facilities at Planters Park are second to none and the club is forward progressing. When its safe to do so we are looking forward to football returning and getting to meet the players”.
BEN – “My final year playing was the 18/19 season when I decided that I wanted to step into the coaching side of the game as this is something I have always had a desire to move forward in. I had an enjoyable time with Sporting Lisburn playing and coaching and thank the club for understanding my movement with the opportunity that has arisen. After spending time with some of the people around Dollingstown over the last week I couldn’t reject such an opportunity to develop as a coach within a fantastic set up. I look forward to working with the players on which I hope will be a successful journey with the club”.
All at Dollingstown would like to welcome both Alan and Ben to Planters Park and wish them all the very best in what will hopefully see Dollingstown continue to push on at both levels, and with the joining of forces with Moira Youth FC it is a great time to be at the club and with everyone pushing in the same direction hopefully we can be the pathway for local kids, teenagers and adults into local senior football in Northern Ireland.
Chairman Hubert Watson – “We are delighted to confirm the appointment of Alan and Ben to DFC to manage our highly successful reserves team for next season. Both came across superbly well in there interview including both a passion for the game and the challenge to build on the solid foundations they have inherited from Simon and the boys. We are hoping that we can formally introduce them to the players in the next few weeks for a catch up”.
