Dollingstown Still Looking For First League Win After Leaving The Dub Pointless

Both teams found themselves face to face again inside 2 weeks with previous cup game going all the way to extra time however today Queen’s ran out very easy winners in the league fixture.

How it might have been different when on 4 minutes Richy Thompson played in Andy McMath who rounded the keeper but fired into the side netting and the home side punished them on 18 minutes when a cross from the right was calmly headed into the top corner.

Credit to DFC they pushed for an equaliser and Thompson had a superb turn and shot well saved by the home keeper.

Then on 35 minutes Ryan Gourley lost possession very easily in midfield and Queen’s broke at pace with long diagonal ball over the top superbly converted at the back post.

Second half Queen’s once again were first to every ball all over the park and there very cultured left back sent in yet another wonderful delivery which was headed in the the striker who easily beat Stephen Croft to the high ball.

Croft made amends minute later when he brought off a flying save from distance and manager Stephen Uprichard then introduced Josh Norton , Scott Adams and Nathan Lavery for Stephen Jones, Gourley and McMath.

DFC pulled a consolation goal back when sub Lavery tapped in after the home keeper could only parry a Thompson shot from the edge of the area.

Overall a fairly timid performance by DFC who need to quickly adjust to football at this higher level.
