Reserves League in own hands

The Reserves staged an outstanding comeback at the weekend with a 2-2 draw with fellow title challengers St Mary’s.  It truly was a game of two halves with St Mary’s dominating the first half and scoring to quick fire goals midway through the half, one a great strike from outside the box an another a well worked goal from the left for the right winger to tap home.

The second half however was complete flip from the first and Dollingstown were the dominant force leading to a nicely worked goal down the left for sub Stuart Armstrong (Pictured) to dispatch a nice header into the goal.  With the home supporters and away defence starting to feel the pressure Dollingstown won a string of corners and free kicks which then led to the prolific Ashley Gregg nodding home the equaliser with still 10 minutes to go.

The Reserves now have their fate in their own hands and if they win their two remaining games will be crowned champions.

Bob Radcliffe Cup Final – Armagh City 1 Dollingstown 1 (aet, Armagh won 5-4 on penalties)

Armagh City beat Dollingstown on penalties to win the Bob Radcliffe Cup final on Boxing Day. The Championship Two side were forced to battle hard against their Intermediate A opponents before eventually prevailing in what was a scrappy encounter played at Loughgall FC. Dollingstown made the better start to the game and Dale Malone capitalised on a mistake by Armagh’s Ryan McGerrigan to give his side the lead. Armagh were ineffective in the opening period but improved considerably after the break and regularly pinned Dollingstown back without managing to find a cutting edge. The equaliser eventually came 10 minutes from the end of full time courtesy of centre-half Darragh Noonan who powered home a corner. The sides could not be separated after extra-time but it was Armagh came through to win via the penalty-spot with the winning penalty coming from Armagh’s Ultan Lennon.
