With games running out DFC gave themselves a real chance of survival with a fully deserved 2-0 away victory against title challengers Tobermore United.
On a hard surface both teams found it hard to create flowing football but both battled very hard in the first half without either team scoring.
In the first 5 minutes of the second half Tobermore came strongly but DFC defence was totally sound although on the hour mark they had some luck when the home team had a half chance that rebounded off the outside of the post.
A minute later Johnston smacked a wonder shot off the angle as DFC started to believe they had a chance and then the diminutive Richmond had his shot from distance blocked after the keeper had to race outside his area.
On 65 minutes Jones played in Johnston whose shot was superbly saved by the home keeper and then Hand put the visitors in front but the goal was disallowed for offside.
Richmond then played in Johnston whose shot was once again well partied by the home keeper but Liggett followed up to tap home the crucial opening goal.
Then with 5 minutes remaining Johnston got the goal he deserved after he lobbed the keeper.
McMath then replaced him in the final few minutes as DFC held out for a fully deserved away win.
