Dollybirds Still On The Lookout For First League Win As Annagh Utd Triumph At Planters Park

This was the second time in two weeks where both teams met and on this occasion it was the unbeaten league leaders who came away with the victory.

Dollingstown opened very brightly and had a wonderful chance on 10 minutes when Richy Thompson played a reverse pass to set up Andy McMath who appeared to be fouled by the keeper but the referee allowed the play to go on and the chance was missed plus McMath had to leave the pitch with a bad leg injury and replaced by Ryan Gourley.

Then 5 minutes later from a corner kick Marc Davidson slipped allowing YaYa to drive in at the back post and the lead was almost doubled after a wicked deflection but Stephen Croft turned it over the bar.

Game was still very tight in the second half but once again from another corner DFC were undone when they allowed YaYa to score a header at the back post.

Davy Richmond and Nathan McConnell were then replaced by Davy Gray and Nathan Lavery as DFC went to try and get back into the game and Gourley turned the full back superbly inside the area but unfortunately dragged his shot inches away from the back post.

Annagh broke away in the final 5 minutes with Taylor hammering in a shot from inside the box but credit to DFC they kept searching and were rewarded when Lavery was adjudged to have been pulled down in the area and skipper Aaron Moffett duly converted from the spot kick.

Next week DFC turn there attention to the intermediate cup and Glentoran U20’s at the Oval.

DFC would like to thank Mark Savage and his company Floored Of Lurgan for his kind match sponsorship and the Branker family for sponsoring the ball.
