D’TOWN ARE GOING UP!

DFC 1sts will now be plying their trade in Championship 2 after a resounding win against Brantwood in the Second leg of the play-off.  This is just the icing on the cake after an unbelievable season where DFC had already secured a treble of trophies this season.

After being 2-1 down from the first leg a big performance was needed by the boys and boy did they give it.  1st Half goals from Walker and Clydesdale put D’town in control of the tie, but the next goal was going to be the decider and with tempers starting to flare a Brantwood player went in two footed into a challenge which resulted in a straight red card.  From the resulting free kick Cunningham rounded the keeper to slot home the all important third and from the aftermath of the goal a second Brantwood player was sent to an early bath.  With Brantwood down to 9 they started playing better and started fashioning chances even though leaving themselves open at the back, but a bit of Brantwood pressure lead to a freekick which was floated into the back post and bounced into the goal.  Cunningham then took two further chances to put the game out of Brantwoods reach even thought they cooly despatched a late Penalty.

Well done to Dukey, the squad, Hubert and the board for all the hard work over this season and the past number of seasons, finally DFC can call themselves a Championship team and very much deserve it.
