Returning to the Showgrounds for only the second time ever DFC registered 3 invaluable points for a resounding away victory.
Moffett headed wide on 12 minutes from a free kick after a very bad foul on Davy McCullough who was making his debut in midfield for DFC.
Then on 37 minutes the home team almost went in front when a long ball dissected the central defenders but the strikers shot cannoned off the outside of the far post.
Few minutes later the home centre forward was shown his second yellow card inside few minutes for another very late challenge and DFC went in front right on half time when Johnston ran onto a loose ball before pulling it back for his strike partner Liggett to drive home from inside the area.
Paddy Mooney was replaced on 52 minutes by Elliott Rea and DFC created 4 good chances down both flanks but the final ball failed to find the right target.
Then on 70 minutes from a free kick the ball broke in the area and Johnston was first to react and score the important second goal.
Thompson then made way for Kernaghan and minutes later from a long clearance Liggett wrapped up the game with goal number 3.
Then a wonderful move down the right between 3-4 players resulted in Kernaghan’s sublime cool finish to make it 4-0 before Liggett wrapped up the impressive win with his hat trick again from a long ball.
Gourley made way in the final minutes for McConnell to get some much needed game time.
This was an impressive away performance and gets the first important points on the board with a clean sheet to boot.
