Super Sub Norton Returns From Injury To Give Dollingstown 3 Valuable Points

In a top of the table clash DFC came away victorious in the final minute of a very competitive game with a narrow but nevertheless hugely important 3 points.

DFC opened strongly in the opening minutes with Clarke testing the home keeper and Adams firing wide from distance but it was Fivemiletown who went in front on 7 minutes when a free kick from the right was headed back across goal despite 3 DFC players in attendance and easily knocked in from 6 yards.

Then it was Fivemiletown turn for some sloppy defending allowing DFC to equalise when Thompson touched home a long throw in from the fight to bring it all square.

Gillespie almost put the home side in front on 23 minutes when another excellent cross from the left was headed against the bar . He did however get the important second goal on 37 minutes when he met another excellent diagonal cross to fire in from a narrow angle at the back post.

Then just before half time DFC got the important equalizer again when Thompson beat the keeper to the ball and McCordick calmly slotted in for his second goal in last two games.

Second half was largely dominated by the home side who had numerous free kicks but Neil King only playing his third game in over a year after injury was immense throughout.

Thompson and Keegan were replaced by Norton returning himself after a 7 week absence and Gray and this was closely followed with Clarke being replaced by Harrison.

It was fitting that Norton celebrating his 21st birthday was the man to fire home the winner from a Gray corner to give DFC a valuable but hard-fought win against a very strong Fivemiletown side.

Special mention to the referee today who controlled the game very well with common sense in a strong physical game that was well competed by both teams.
