The Dollybirds Brought Down To Earth With A Bang As Hanover Leave With Full Points

Special thanks to Hanover who made a guard of honour to welcome league champions DFC onto the pitch but that was where the hospitality ended.

DFC made 6 changes from Saturday to both give much-needed match time to players and also to rest some key players ahead of a very tough semi final against Crewe United on Saturday.

Indeed in the opening 20 minutes DFC had 3 very decent half chances which included an offside goal from Greg Harrison but they over run the ball or delayed the final pass when in good shooting positions.

Then on the half hour mark they were caught out by a quick throw in with Michael  Denver caught the wrong side and then Matty Walker failed to clear the cross and the striker buried the ball in the bottom corner.

Couple of minutes later it was almost 2-0 but Croft got down well at the near post .Dfc didn’t learn from this and another run down the left resulted in a simple tap in from inside the area.

Then to rub salt into the sound so to speak Hanover went 3-0 up when they benefited from a wicked deflection from a free kick to go into the break very comfortable.

Manager Uprichard changed the shape of the team at the interval with McConnell replacing Coleman and this resulted in a much improved second half performance and on 57 minutes Harrison won himself a penalty which he duly converted.

Moffett then replaced Walker and McCordick replaced Harrison as DFC tried  to get back into the game but it petered out and DFC suffered first league defeat under Manager Uprichard.

The good thing is that the boys can regroup now for another tough encounter away on sat to Crewe United in semi final of Marshall cup.
